There are endless great places to visit in and around Cardiff and finding the time to check them all out is almost impossible. To try and help, we've put together a list of some of the "must see" attractions, clubs, bars, restaurants and more, that we love ourselves and reckon you will as well.

Porter's Cardiff is next to The Big Sleep Hotel and opposite the CIA (Motorpoint) so really central! All the staff are really friendly and they have a great range of drinks. You can buy cheap pints or more specialised flavoured beers. It's a really big space which you can sit around and chat with your friends or get up on stage where they have a piano and have a good ol' sing song! This did actually happen on Saturday night. Who doesn't love an impromptu sing song?! They also show the rugby on the big screen in the main room. They also have another room with a cinema in it! Beautiful red velvet seats and great films.
If you are someone who doesn't settle for streaming and MP3s and wants the old-fashioned pleasure of browsing through racks of CDs and vinyl, then head to Spillers Records in the City Centre. Famous world over as the oldest record store in the world, it began life in 1894 and carries on trading still offering rare and cool indie and mainstream treats and beats to a new generation. An enthusiastic and knowledgeable staff are always happy to help you find what you're looking for and can also recommend some new and interesting acts you may not yet have discovered. Definitely make a visit soon even if it's just to get one of the cool t-shirts, hoodies or bags.
Great Mexican food and will cater to large groups. Amigos started as a family run restaurant, and still is today. With over 20 years of experience they have some of the most authentic Mexican dishes outside of Mexico, from Burritos to Nachos, or Paella to Tacos, they do it all! Previously called Daiquiri's, they also do a takeaway service, Speedy Amigos.
Perfect for lunch, it offers a huge range of sandwiches, baguettes, salad boxes and drinks, this small family run baguette shop is in the heart of Cathays in Cardiff. Offers an extensive selection of fresh homemade baguette/sandwich fillings. All food is freshly prepared to order so if you don't want tomato in your BLT you don't have to have it. The baguettes are freshly baked and the sandwich fillings are all homemade using only the finest ingredients. They also bake their own cookies and flapjacks, this one is worth the pitstop.
Roomy bar with a mezzanine level, live music evenings, live sport screenings and a pub grub menu. Perfect for chilling out with friends and enjoying the good things in life like beer, burgers and great music. They have various activities throughout the week ranging from Quiz night on a Monday evening to a cocktail night on a Friday, and of course the famous Quids night on a Thursday, where they provide an extensive selection of drinks from £1.
The Mackintosh is a local, student friendly pub in the heart of Cathays.Traditional pub venue with a menu of global comfort food favourites and regular party events. (Close to the Keylet office as well). There's two pool tables, a dart board and the cheapest jukebox in the area, which is free until 5pm daily! With two sky box's with Sky and BT sport, you'll never miss a minute of the action on their 6 plasma screens and big projector. Drink wise, there is a competitive bottled beer selection, and 2 cask ale pumps with guest ales that change weekly. Outside a cheery beer garden you can soak up the sun all afternoon in the warm summer months.
Self-titled ‘The Healthier Eating Experience’ an extensive menu choice, a perfect ‘grab and go’ in between lectures. Fresh crisp market fresh salad, a choice of lean meats cooked in store daily, a wide range of vegetarian options plus an extensive array of toppings, all help create a healthier eating experience with a good balance of carbs, healthy fat and protein all sealed up. From the 'Flying Pig' to the 'Hot Aussie' there is enough selection for all.
Middle Eastern mezze dishes and meat grills, plus cocktails, in a cosy eatery with wooden floors.Mina has been established since 1990, at that time it was a café type more than a restaurant and since then they have been trading continuously. Lebanese food is unique in that it combines the sophistication and subtleties of European haute cuisines with the exotic ingredient of the orient. A meal usually starst with a “Mezza”, a selection of salads (tabboule and fattoush), hummus, moutabbal, stuffed grape leaves dolma and kibba. The main course is generally grilled meat, chicken or fish served with rice or bread. Worth a try!
Established in year 2009 by food loving enthusiast Mr Zaman who has over 13 years of experience in catering business with special interest in Indian cuisine. They started a new concept of Indian Cuisine in heart of Cardiff. Delicious Indian and Bangladeshi restaurant that serves up generous portions. There set menus are your best bet. Their slogan is Indian cuisine Re-Invented and yes it is named after the inspiration of Mowgli, from Jungle Book! They have won the Food & Drinks Award 2012 - Indian Restaurant of the year 2012 by South Wales Echo and the high star rating on trip advisor speaks for itself.
The Royal George is situated in the Roath/Cathays area of Cardiff. The Depot, is a former warehouse situated on Dumballs Road, now transformed into Cardiff's largest Street Food Venue. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for a range if different events. With a quirky outdoor area of caravans, ping pong tables and comfy seating. Food includes stalls offering, pizzas, burgers, icecreams and two bars. A must see venue.
As their official sponsors of 2015/2016, one of the most atmospheric events in Cardiff. Located in the Internation sports village, the season runs from October - April so there are not excuses not to visit! In July 2014, the Cardiff Devils were purchased by a consortium of Canadian businessmen. In only 1 full season, the ownership group have transformed the Devils into a league powerhouse, going from 9th place to winning the Challenge Cup and nearly winning the league.

Gwdihŵ looks a little like a cosy but very kooky living room. A perfect hang out spot if you are in the city centre. On offer a wide selection of rums, bourbons, whiskeys, vodkas, shooters and liquers, as well as beers ciders and ales., including Barenaked Beer from the Artisan Brewing Co, located just down the road in Canton. During the daytime we offer a lovely selection of teas from TeaPig and coffees in decanters, along with paninis and pies to munch on. There’s free wifi access if you want to do some work, or board games to play, or just relax on the sofas and picnic tables in the lovely beer garden, with heaters to warm you through the winter and a roof to shelter you from the rain. A stand out venue, with plant based foods and drink. Wholly organic and local produce working with the seasons to create the best dishes. A large outdoor area at the back of the restaurant, complete with yurt and soft furnishings makes this place a must see.

Housed on the ground floor of an old Post Office, Turtle Bay is a restaurant and bar in the heart of Cardiff with a Caribbean Twist. Serving up rum, reggae and chicken, the venue is perfectly situated on lively St Mary's Street. The reggae vibes are in full swing as soon as you step through the doors, they provide torches to view the menu ito add to the atmosphere. A welcomed change to Cardiff's culinary scene.
